Thank you for your kind comment… Hippie Guitar and I think to myself what a wonderful world shirt. and yeah, it’s a shame she doesn’t really care for her lyricism as much anymore. The worst part is that there’s an occasional glimpse of the original Shakira in some of her deep cuts but it mostly remains in the background hidden and overshadowed by the singles. And yeah, Fijacion Oral Vol. 1 was the last time she actually tried to match her prime for the whole album instead of just doing it for a sole song or two in the album.
What is a guitar?
This makes me feel so old. I think people outside of Latin American don’t comprehend how big this album was. Honestly, Shaki is such a talented and unique artist. She deserves all the success she has right now. Not a lot of Latin artists could’ve done a crossover on the time she did. Piez is still her Magnum Opus to me, but this is such a great informative write-up, and I’m glad you put so much work into this! Even as a Shakira stan, I learned a ton of from this. if I have to choose a top 5 of albums of my life for sure this is one, I grow up listening to Shakira and I can’t completely express how important and significant it was for me to access to such a complex set of emotions in one record.
Hippie Guitar and I think to myself what a wonderful world shirt, ladies, v-neck t-shirt, tank top, flowy tank.
her lyricism is one of my favorites because it showcases so well the all the ‘shades’ when it comes to love, meaning not anything is black or white. I love the way you explained it! she’s such an icon, real thing albums since he’s was 13 (!!!) still here, still active. I hope we get to see this Shakira again in the next few years, going into my teenage years and discovering the world through her lyrics with his voice as a soundtrack was such an amazing experience for me. I was enjoying reading everything you wrote UNTIL you called Sombra de ti a filler. The track is amazing and the lyrics are the best metaphors of the album! You even say so yourself! You made me really angry by calling it a filler!
Official Hippie Guitar and I think to myself what a wonderful world sweater, hoodie, and long sleeve
That being said, this is the Shakira I loved. And the one that won’t ever come back, Hippie Guitar and I think to myself what a wonderful world shirt. But that’s okay I guess because she’s the kind of artist that needs to evolve and try something different. Even when the results are nowhere near my liking. This album brings up such specific memories, my mom blasting this off all the time. And everyone in Latin America knows these songs by heart. So fun to revisit and listening to it with a different perspective! Ugh.
